15 de agosto de 1969, Início do Woodstock Music and Art Fair, realizado na fazenda de Max Yasgur, na cidade vizinha de Bethel. O festival durou três dias e teve entre outras atrações Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, The Grateful Dead, Mountain, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Canned Heat, Crosby Stills, Nash & Young e Jefferson Airplane.
